Press Reviews

Our Sydney walking tours feature in newspapers, blogs and magazines across the world. Here's what some of our 'critics' have to say about our tours:

Golden Mile Walking Tour

  • A walk on the wild side:  A Sydney walking tour company is hoping crime does pay, having launched an Underbelly-themed sightseeing trip through Kings Cross. The Golden Mile Walking Tour takes in all the hot spots featured in Underbelly 3: The Golden Mile. Set in Kings Cross in the late 1980s, the events in Underbelly 3 largely take place in the nightclubs of Darlinghurst Road and surrounds. Darlinghurst Road clubs such as Stripperama (now called Strippers), the Love Machine and the Pink Pussycat feature in the tour. Around the corner in Earl Place, visitors can see the Tunnel nightclub (now Dragonfly), the first club part-owned by Kings Cross entrepreneur John Ibrahim. Company owner Rebecca Giglia said the tours would appeal to locals and out-of-towners interested in the area's colourful past. 'People are fascinated by the history of Kings Cross but many don't feel comfortable walking around the area on their own,'' she said. Sun Herald, 21st March 2010
  • See the real underworld: A new guided walking tour inspired by the hit TV series Underbelly: The Golden Mile begins in Kings Cross in Sydney this week. Bounce Walking Tours' The Golden Mile Walking Tour will explore the locations and settings for some of the city's most notorious criminal scandals featured in the show, with expert commentary and a few contemporary tales of the Cross. A local actor, whose identity is a surprise, will also make a cameo appearance. Daily Telegraph, 14 March 2010
  • Underbelly: The walk: You've got to admire the entrepreneurism of Sydney's tourism industry. Nine's Underbelly 3: The Golden Mile may not even be on air yet, but the first walking tour is already available. Punters on the Golden Mile Walking Tour of Sydney website are invited to:  "Venture down Sydney's Golden Mile - the strip of Kings Cross being made famous again in TV's Underbelly - with your Kings Cross-savvy guide on the NEW Golden Mile Walking Tour. The first tour is Monday 15th March, starting, sensibly enough, under the Coca-Cola sign. mUmBRELLA, 8 March 2010

Sydney Sights Walking Tour

  • "The Sydney Sights Walking Tour is ideal for first-time visitors seeking to explore the city by foot." Sydney Uncovered.
  • "The tour takes in The Rocks, the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, the Royal Botanic Gardens and other sights... It is the first tour in Sydney that provides walkers with an insight into each of the sights - not just The Rocks - on a regular basis.... Walking through Sydney's sights and hidden treasures is one of the best ways to experience the rich history, culture and atmosphere." Daily Telegraph.
  • "Bounce Tours' Sydney Sights Walking Tour provides visitors and locals with an insight into the drama, beauty, history, secrets and lies behind Sydney." West Australian.

Kings Cross Walking Tour

  • "The fascinating Crimes & Passions Walking Tour gleefully retold grizzly tales like the 1920s feud between gangsters Kate Leigh and Tilly Devine, the day in 1954 when a Miss Australia entrant shot her boyfriend through the eye for having an affair, and the 1975 murder of journalist Juanita Nielsen. It revealed the stories behind the area's landmarks. I emerged from the tour feeling strangely fonder of the area." Sydney Morning Herald.
  • "Sydney's Crimes & Passions Walking Tour proves some true stories are definitely stranger than fiction. The guided tour of Kings Cross reveals hidden gems historical, architectural and cultural. Oh, and plenty of scandal besides." Great Walks Magazine.
  • "Just below the surface, behind a few doors in Sydney's infamous Kings Cross, are stories of life that would shock or enthrall every visitor. But to find these hidden treasures one must take a tour hosted by experts in the area. Bounce Tours has created a tour that exposes the reality of this colourful, bohemian, artistic yet sometimes tragic neighbourhood." Sun-Herald.
  • "What better way to see this unique part of Sydney than on foot with a walk on the wild side?... The tour tells stories of love, murder, drugs and sex, but also included is the area's artistic and architectural past." Brisbane Times.
  • "Bounce dished out more than enough 'dirt' to fascinate both visitor and Sydneysider alike. Some of the city's most infamous murders, court cases, mysterious disappearances, shootings and stabbings, even a minor riot, all took place within the Cross area and there are abundant "X marks the spot" locations." Sydney Morning Herald.
  • "... there's much more to Kings Cross that even Sydneysiders don't know about and for visitors who are a little hesitant to venture into the area, a Bounce 'Crimes & Passions Walking Tour' is a great introduction... Knowledgable, bubbly guides take you near the sites of many fascinating gory events, important milestones, crimes and love stories and fill you in on the Kings Cross 'goss'." Get Up and Go Magazine.
  • "...it is the first regular walking tour of the Cross and is both informative and entertaining. It's perfect for all ages and fitness levels." Daily Telegraph.
  • "For all it's funky new bars, it'd be a crime not to take this walk on the wilder side of Kings Cross." Adelaide Advertiser.
